This major retrospective emphasises Hepworth’s often-overlooked prominence in the international art world. It also highlights the different contexts and spaces in which Hepworth developed and presented her work, from the studio to the landscape.

波蒙西廣場雕塑定製計劃

Courtesy of VITRINE 倫敦的Bermondsey地區近年來成為了又一處藝術地標,這裡吸引了眾多優秀的藝術家和畫廊,隨著全球知名畫廊White Cube的進駐,這裡更是成為了令人矚目的藝術新“熱點”。位於White Cube畫廊斜對面的VITRINE畫廊為了最大程度的推動這裡藝術家們的成長和創作,他們創立了Bermondsey廣場雕塑定製計劃(SABS)來展示這些傑出藝術家們的才華。 SABS將委託三位藝術家在這裡創作新的公共藝術作品,每件作品都會在Bermondsey廣場公開展出半年的時間。在今年10月7日,第一位合作藝術家Karen Tang的新雕塑作品《異變(Synapsid)》將會與公眾見面,上週我們有幸走訪了她的工作室,見到了正在製作之中的新雕塑,為了能讓大家先睹為快,我們特地送來最近的圖片劇透。 藝術家Karen Tang的這件作品靈感來源於上個世紀50、60年代的科幻和災難電影,其中有一部以倫敦Bermondsey地區為背景拍攝的《巨獸》電影展示了當時倫敦和這個地區的風貌,這樣的背景和重新創作的作品之間產生了有趣的對話,Tang將自己對於動植物的變異和形態的轉變作為其創作的一個角度,同時兼顧了公共雕塑與整個區域之間文化歷史上下文的考量,使得作品和公眾之間能夠形成更為積極的互動。
